The Edge
The Edge is designed by therapists, for therapists. The first line in our Kaha manifesto reads: we take our work VERY seriously (Ourselves, not so much). And that is what we aim to bring to you. Get ready for thought-provoking discussions, direct access to our lead therapists, hands-on learning with practical assignments, and an environment where your opinions matter. This is your space to grow, and you'll be encouraged to ask questions and take up space. No question is too shallow, and no topic too deep. By the end, you'll walk away feeling confident and READY to become the best version of your therapist self.
Who Will Conduct the Course?
You're in great hands! Your supervisors and instructors bring a wealth of experience to this course. They hold PhDs, M.Phils, and Master's degrees from some of the most prestigious universities around the world and in India. With backgrounds in universities, hospitals, program development at organizational and community levels, and extensive work with diverse individuals, they've supervised therapists like you who have become experts in the field.
Together they bring perspectives from diverse sets of therapeutic orientations including CBT, DBT, ACT, Narrative, TA, MBCT and so much more. And of course, it's a given that they're trauma-informed, queer-affirmative and culturally sensitive. So don't hold back and hit them with your toughest questions- they've got you covered. They are all a part of Kaha's leadership team (we've only got the best lined up for you). They've been there, done that, see the gaps that exist and are well-equipped to guide you through all of it.

Choosing to study psychology often comes with a big question: "What can I actually do with this degree?" The truth is, a lot. But most undergraduate programs or internships only give you a glimpse of what working in psychology really looks like. The Kaha Mind Undergraduate Fellowship is designed to bridge that gap. This is a 6-week immersive fellowship for undergraduate psychology students and recent graduates who want to explore how psychology shows up in the real world, beyond textbooks and exams. At Kaha, we believe that becoming a psychologist isn't just about learning theories. It's about learning how to think, observe, question, and apply psychological ideas in meaningful ways. During the fellowship, you'll explore different pathways within psychology. From therapy and mental health care to research, organisational psychology, and what content creation looks like for mental health advocacy. You'll engage in hands-on learning, case discussions, interactive modules, and real-world projects, while working closely with psychologists who practice in diverse areas of the field.
By the end of the program, our hope is that you walk away with:
- A clearer sense of what working in the field of psychology actually looks like
- Greater clarity about potential career paths
- Foundational skills used by psychologists across fields
- Experience working on a real project from conceptualisation to presentation
- And most importantly, a better understanding of the kind of psychologist you want to become
Who Is This Fellowship For?
This fellowship is designed for:
- Undergraduate psychology (or related field) students in their 2nd year onwards
- Students who have recently completed their undergraduate degree in psychology or a related field
- Individuals curious about careers in psychology beyond clinical practice
- Those interested in exploring areas such as mental health care, research, organisational psychology, and policy/advocacy
You do not need prior internship experience, just curiosity, openness to learning, and willingness to engage in discussions.
What Will You Learn?
The fellowship includes a series of modules designed to introduce fellows to key concepts, skills, and conversations within psychology.
Some of the topics we will explore include:
- Exploring the Identity of a Therapist
- The Hierarchy of Mental Health Care
- Myth Busting in Psychology
- Therapy Microskills
- Psychological First Aid
- Understanding Distress and Mental Health Disorders
- Introduction to Psychological Assessments
- Case History and Mental Status Examination (MSE)
- Cultural Competence and Cultural Humility
- Workplace and Mental Health
- Doing Research in the Real World
- Social Media and Psychology
- Ethics in Psychology
- Understanding the Mental Health Care Act
Each module will focus on practical understanding and real-world application, rather than theoretical memorisation. Expect interactive discussions, scenarios, and activities that help you think like a psychologist.
The fellowship is designed to be experiential and collaborative, not just lecture-based. So alongside the modules, fellows will also participate in:
- Client case discussions: Real (anonymised) client case presentations by psychologists at Kaha Mind, where fellows will observe what peer supervision looks like.
- Role plays and activities: Fellows will engage in role plays and activities to practice their skills as a psychologist.
- Group discussions: Fellows will facilitate group discussions on pertinent psychology related topics.
- Career Panels: Q&A panel with psychologists at Kaha Mind to learn about different career journeys within psychology.
- Capstone project: An individual project that each fellow will design and present at the end of the fellowship. Fellows will receive feedback from psychologists at Kaha Mind.
- 1-1 Mentorship: An opportunity to receive individual mentorship from psychologists at Kaha Mind to reflect on their learning, discuss career paths, and get support on the capstone project.

FAQs
Who can apply for the fellowship?
The fellowship is open to undergraduate psychology students (2nd year and onwards), and students who have recently completed their undergraduate degree in psychology or related fields (e.g. BA programme, social work, public health, liberal arts, applied psychology).
Is this fellowship focused only on clinical psychology or therapy?
No. One of the goals of this fellowship is to help students understand that psychology careers extend beyond clinical practice. While we will introduce fellows to aspects of mental health care and therapy skills, the fellowship will also explore research, workplace and organisational psychology, mental health systems, psychology-based content creation, ethics, policy, and advocacy.
Will I get hands-on experience during the fellowship?
Yes. The fellowship is designed to be interactive and experiential, not lecture-heavy. Fellows will engage in group discussions, role-play exercises, case discussions, 1-1 mentorship with a psychologist, shadow research work and content creation, weekly reflection assignments, and individual capstone projects which the fellows will present at the end of the fellowship.
What is the capstone project?
The capstone project is a short project that fellows will work on individually during the program. The topic will involve one of the following: 1) Developing and delivering a psychology-related workshop; 2) Developing and delivering a psychoeducation campaign; 3) Conducting a literature review and preparing a report with recommendations to address a specific mental health challenge in India. Fellows will meet with a mentor for feedback and support, and will present their projects at the end of the fellowship.
Will fellows be able to observe therapy or psychological assessment sessions?
No. Fellows will not observe therapy or assessment sessions during the program. This is primarily due to ethical considerations around protecting client privacy and confidentiality.
What is the time commitment for the fellowship?
The fellowship runs for 6 weeks. Sessions will take place twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays) from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Fellows may also spend some additional time outside sessions working on their capstone project or preparing for discussions.
Is the fellowship online or in person?
This fellowship has all modules that can be attended online. Keeping your video on during online sessions is mandatory. However, if someone would like to attend in-person from either of our offices, they're absolutely welcome. If you're based out of Delhi/Bangalore, we would love for you to drop by, meet the team and get some extra office hours with us!
How many fellows will be selected?
We aim to keep the cohort small and interactive, so that fellows can meaningfully participate in discussions and activities.
Do I need prior research or internship experience to apply?
Not at all. The fellowship is designed as an exploratory learning experience, so prior research or internship experience is not required.
Will you offer group discounts?
No group discounts will be offered.
What if I am still unsure about my career path in psychology?
That's completely okay and actually one of the main reasons this fellowship exists. Many students pursue psychology without having the opportunity to explore what different careers in the field actually look like. This fellowship is designed to help you ask questions, explore possibilities, and reflect on what direction feels right for you.
Can I record the sessions?
Nice try, but no <3
